What is a social media audit?
Best described by Hootsuite, "A social media audit is a regular examination of social channels that represent your brand—including both your business’ owned profiles and imposter accounts.
The purpose is to ensure that each of your profiles are on brand and functioning correctly, identify and shut down any rogue or abandoned accounts, and ensure that you’re using the channels that make the most sense for your brand."
We have a simple Social It Yourself 3 minute review you can do (yes, it doesn't take that long) when auditing websites and social media platforms:
1. Is it current? You want everything to be up-to-date and current. Nothing is worse than seeing old content, offers or contact details that are out of date. Regular review of your website and social media platforms will ensure everything is always the latest information available.
2. Is it complete? Are each of your platforms complete to the best they can be, with the suggestions each platform prompts you to fill in? Often you will see only the basic information on a Facebook Page, when in fact as a business you're missing a golden opportunity to promote an offer, product or service to visiting customers.
3. Is it consistent? Nothing is worse than seeing inconsistency across a website, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter account for a business. Remember, this is your business branding and it's important that each work together telling a consistent brand story about you.
Your brand says much about your business, often way before anyone even engages directly with you. It's critical that the channels people use to search and research your products and services are representing you in the best possible way, 24/7. Small things like website links that don't work, incorrect or outdated logos or old pages that come up in a social media search - can all lead to turnoff for potential customers.
Make sure you put your best foot forward - your competitor is only a click away!
